Born out of the idea for a multi-activity event that can include all types of SCA folks. Giants’ Dance is a true team experience. The winning team will take home the combined Giants’ Treasure to divide among themselves and a legacy banner that must be returned to defend the next year.
In order to win the event, a team must have competitors in each of the following activities. Participants may cross into other activities**;

**Your artisan may also shoot your archery point, your herald could be fighting on your heavy team, and so on. But teams must have a representative in each event AND provide something for the Treasure in order to be eligible to win.
Each team must present themselves before the Giants’ Council and be introduced by a voice herald. Your herald has 4 minutes to introduce the team and convince the Giants that your team’s offering will lead to peace between the populace and the Giants. Teams may decide to present one item as a group (for example, a piece of furniture or finished shield) or each teammate may bring a smaller item (a knife, rattan, pottery, trim, beads, fabric, etc.). Items will be added to the Treasure.
First place will get 6 points, second place will get 4 points, third place will get 2 points. Each participating team gets 1 point.
Archers will have five arrows to shoot at an advancing target. Head shots will count for 3 points, each arm or leg will count as 2 points, torso will count for 1 point with a maximum of 6 points possible. Each archer automatically gets one point. If ties must be broken, the marshal will look at the difficulty of the shots landed and make a determination.
An open range for recording royal rounds will be available. There will be an optional novelty shoot to be named later. Royal rounds and novelty shoots do not count for event points.
Items must have at least a 3x5 card of documentation. In progress projects welcome.
Entry with the most votes will get 6 points, second most votes will get 4 points, third most will get 2 points. Each artisan entering will automatically get 1 point.
In a modified bear pit/armatura, a Giant will begin with any choice of weapons including case. Defenders will be allowed to wield weapons 30" or less in length. The clock will start with one Giant and one Defender. Defenders will be added at a set duration which will be shortened with every new wave should the Giant dispatch all defenders. The winner will be the Giant who defeats the most Defenders before succumbing to their numbers. RBGs are not allowed on either side.
Long ago in Nant y Derwyddon, there was Gwyddy City. When the Giants last attacked decades ago, Gwyddy City was burned to the ground. On its ashes we built Thistle Down.
Thistle Down is a timed structure battle consisting of a broken pier, a hasty barricade, a narrow pass, and a front gate. Each team will both attack and defend. How many times a team will attack and defend will depend on how many teams come to the event. Each team may have up to seven heavies armed with any legal weapon style from their kingdom of origin. A team may substitute two fighters for two combat archers or one siege engine. Teams may NOT “borrow” another team’s archers or siege weapons.
Attacking teams begin in a “boat” and get unlimited resurrections. Attacking res point is either the boat, or at the hasty barricade, whichever is closer and clearly controlled.
Defending teams begin at the hasty barricade and get three resurrections. Defending teams always res at the circle inside the gate.
Arrows may not be gleaned and will be re-inspected between bouts. A bow that is struck is “dead” and must res. If an archer wants to pick up another weapon, the bow and arrows must be deposited off the field.
Siege ammunition may not be gleaned and must be re-inspected between bouts. If a siege engineer wants to pick up another weapon, the engine and all ammunition must be removed from the field.
The team with the fastest attack time and the team with the longest defense time will each get 6 points, with 4 points being awarded for second places, 2 points for third places, and 1 point to each team for participating.
